Contract Highlights

The UPS National Master Agreement, which was approved in June by a majority of UPS Teamsters who voted, achieves many contract enhancements that members identified as extremely important, including wage and benefit increases, additional full-time jobs and language improvements such as harassment, 9.5, SurePost and military leave.

Those provisions, including a 70-cent per hour wage increase, were negotiated to take effect August 1, 2013. However, none of the provisions of the National Master Agreement have gone into effect because the national agreement does not take effect until all regional supplements and riders have been approved. Seventeen supplements and riders were not approved during the first vote.

Once all supplements and riders are approved, negotiated wage and pension increases will be paid retroactively to August 1.

Health Care Breakdown

Back to top Teamcare

UPS Teamsters are covered by various health care funds. For specific information about your health care coverage contact your local union.

TeamCare is the largest provider of health care for UPS Teamsters. TeamCare has provided health insurance benefits to 80,000 UPS Teamsters and family members for 45 years. With the approval of the National Master Agreement that number will grow to over 330,000 UPS Teamsters and family members in TeamCare.

Negotiators have successfully established a new health care fun for UPS Teamsters covered under the Western Supplement and the Local 177 Supplement. That new fund, Teamsters Western Region and Local 177 Health Care Fund, meets the requirement set for in the National Master Contract that the fund “meet or exceed the benefits provided by TeamCare.

Matt Tipping

"Thank you for answering all of my questions and clearing things up for me. Everyone was confused about the Medical. If people take the time to get their questions answered and look into the plan they will see that it's an excellent plan with excellent benefits. I am voting YES for Excellent benefits, wages and job security!"

Ron Edmondson

"My wife checked out the Team care web site and said I'd be crazy if I didn't vote yes on the contract!"

Brian Gillis

"A Raise of almost $4.00 per hour with retroactive pay, no cost medical, 5 years of job protection, who gets that today? Anyone who doesn't VOTE YES needs to take a serious look at what they could be giving up. This is a great contract and I am voting YES!"

Mukai Burrowes

"The contract is great. The negotiating committee worked really hard on getting us a fair contract. It helps out everybody, from the part-time workers, who get increased wages, to the full-time drivers, who get to keep their 8-hour requests consistent without backlash or retaliation from management for putting in grievances."

Don Reynolds

"There's been a lot of misinformation and confusion about our health care benefits and the change to TeamCare. Once we got information, it really cleared things up. Our health care benefits are practically the same. They are still going to be great."

Tim Hughes

"I'm happy with the wage increases and I'm ready to get a raise. So many of my friends and family aren't getting raises at all these days."

Linda Hunt

"Overall I think this is a strong contract. We wanted to maintain our health care, we wanted raises and we wanted to deal with harassment. This contract does all of that."

Robert McMillan

"I'm voting YES. It's a solid contract and we will still have excellent health care."

Dorothy McGee

"I'm hoping people get out there and vote yes. We did have a lot of changes that were positive changes. With TeamCare, unfortunately there were a lot of bad rumors going around. People didn't understand it. Since the International had meetings on TeamCare, people are able to understand it and realize the benefits they did achieve."

Roberta Brazell

"I'm voting yes. It's a good contract for everybody. The part-timers and the new hires are moving up in wage. We're still keeping our health care. It might not be the health care that we are accustomed to, but we're still getting a great health care plan. The harassment language is getting better. I'd like to thank the negotiating team for all their hard work. They did a great job."

Sequetta Baldwin

"I'm voting YES. I feel the new contract is the best thing for our members. It means everybody gets more."

Ruben Duran

“I'm very happy with it. It provides security for us members. We have better language with the 9.5 agreement. It gives us a voice in the future on health care. For us as Teamsters, to manage our health care, it leaves me and my family with a good feeling, because I have complete faith in the union to get us the best deal.”

Ruben Tiscareno

“It will continue to keep us at the top of the industry with wages and benefits.”

Katherine Arredondo

“I've gone through it and reviewed whole thing. I’m totally satisfied with it. The medical was the most important to me, because I have a family. I'm completely happy with it. Our union really fought for us.”
